Played this game for a free indie horror on my channel, and although you guys claim it STANDS OUT from the common riff-raff of indie horrors, I for one think it kinda just falls in-line with the rest of them. It's an interesting game though kinda generic and boring at times. Puzzles are too easy and the difficult ones are difficult for the wrong reasons. There's no real threat, so there's no fear of danger or dying because you seemingly can't. The first person camera pivots around a center point for some odd reason? Collision on objects in areas are weird and inconsistent most of the time and to top is all off (Personal pet-peeve) Ya can't SPRINT and ya can't JUMP. I always find the inability to do both of these somewhat annoying in Horror games, as it removes a certain level of "Fear for my life" And takes away from the experience a bit. Also, add a brightness slider. The atmosphere was alright, if you like a combination of P.T and gonzo's fun house (Generic carnival clown funhouse name). Gameplay is the best part of this game, as is controls rather decently. All in all I give this game a 6.5/10. Not perfect and definitely needs work and maybe some design choice changes, but not bad and kinda fun to kill 30-45 minutes. If you want a more in-depth review and a let's play, you can find mine below!
In general, a good experience, nice graphics and atmosphere, but also needs more testing on those puzzles, one of them (the Dante's inferno reference) was just bad done, but at least the game shows some good future for this new developer.
This was quite good! The story really confused me, I wasn't really sure what literally any of it meant. But I really liked the entire building design and the puzzles were not challenging (minus that painting puzzle, wth?) but they were all super satisfying to get through! I can't wait to see what else you do with this, you're going to finish it, ya? Please do!
The puzzles were well done! However, the story needs some work. The voice acting was... off-putting and although it looked the part, there really wasn't anything scary, just one jumpscare at the very end that slightly startled me because it was sudden. I'm not saying it's a bad game, there's a lot of "love" put into this project. Would I call this a finished game? No. To me, it feels like this is basically a "proof of concept" and the real.. finished version is still being perfected.
A short but well made game. The Puzzles are interesting and well placed.
Only complain I have was the story: I kind of lost track or I missed something ( especially why the Protagonist can decide for a certain action ). But still good job on this game
I have a huge backlog of games to play, and I'm so pleased I finally got around to this one! Horror puzzle games are way up there in my favourite genres, and this one has some great little challenges in it mixed with a really great layout and awesome atmosphere.
I had an amazing time playing this and trying to figure out what was going on and why, and although I'm not 100% sure I got everything right, it was still a great feeling getting past each puzzle! Keep up the great work! =)
I really enjoyed both the subtle scares and creepy atmosphere of this game. I think the devs did a very good job building an immense amount of tension in such a short amount of time. The puzzle (you know which one you are) 's were well thought out and intriguing. Overall I thought this was a well done game.
this was a great horror game! The atmosphere and sounds were definetly creepy and had me on edge the whole time! The ending was what got me the most hahaha!
Insomnis is exactly what it says it is a puzzle horror game. I suck at puzzles so I couldn't complete this game when it came to the painting puzzle. I don't know if it's just me but, the audio on the radio for the clues wasn't too audible to me. I think that's suppose to be part of the atmosphere of the game with that. Having a guy with a drawn out voice. I'm not blaming the radio guy I think even if what he said was clear I would still be stumped on the painting puzzle. All in all it's a good horror game!
Great game it reminds me a lot of P.T. The story was scary and the graphics were amazing the jumpscares got me and it was overall just a really good game at parts i got a bit confused but apart from that it was amazing great game.
It looks really good graphically, there are some pretty creepy moments, and some puzzles (especially the puzzle to find the numbers for the phone) are really good, but the description of the game kinda led me to believe that a monster was going to be hunting me throughout the game, and I'm assuming it was just the sheet ghost, but there's only the 2 interactions with it and it never really becomes threatening to me, just a creepy, non-moving entity. While it looks really good, i think a more threatening looking model would be better. Also, maybe work on the volume control. The scream from the daughter on the phone seriously hurt my ears but the volume from everything else felt pretty normal. Also, I've seen a few playthroughs of the game (just 3) just to make sure I wasn't a complete idiot for not understanding the painting puzzle, but all of them just guessed. I'd suggest some sort of indicator as to what order to put them in as I feel like there's at least one from each selection that could match the hints. Take the hint on death. One of the painting selections had 2 that made sense with having death, and then another selction also has death, and 2 of those 3 painting literally have Death in them, but it's neither one of those! There's a painting of people that look blind, but that painting isn't the one the blind hint is talking about? I just don't think that puzzle is very well made at all and maybe some different painting choices would work better. Sorry for the super long review, but I just feel like this could have been a lot better than what it is now, especially with how good looking all the environment is.
All in all, it's still pretty fun, although I kinda stopped having a very fun time after my ears started hurting. Made a playthough, hope you enjoy.
Yes this was certainly a very spooky experience and it took me a bit of time to figure out the puzzles, I recommend you give it a go if you have not already.
I got an email about this game a week or two ago from you, and I really appreciate you reaching out! Right away I noticed that this game was optimized fantastically. The graphics were great and I got zero frame drops from any source. That's super rare to find in modern horror games with high-end visuals. The puzzles definitely stumped me a couple of times. Especially the one with the paintings. I still feel like I solved it the wrong way. I found a bug (maybe) in that room where if you switch to the correct painting, a little '1' pops on the top left corner of the screen. Other than that, this game was bug-less. The atmosphere was phenomenal and the place was HUGE. It had a very detailed backstory and a ton of stuff to go off of. The ending sort of confused me, though. Anywho, this was awesome. Thanks so much for making this!
Some nice looking visuals and I liked the different puzzles. The story wasn't incredibly clear though, and I did have trouble listening to the speech at certain points.
This was such an Awesome little game, I got so scared playing this. The atmosphere was so intense and felt creepy the whole way through the game, Every corner felt like it could be a jump scare. Definitely worth a play. -Relzor.

It was nice, story was weird but the game looked great the level design was cool.

🍻Cheers. The puzzles were well done! However, the story needs some work. The voice acting was... off-putting and although it looked the part, there really wasn't anything scary, just one jumpscare at the very end that slightly startled me because it was sudden.

Anyway, that's just my thoughts about it.

This game is amazing...nice atmosphere, sound but one thing is missing no jump scares..but still 10/10 :)
P.s: How to solve the puzzle quick check this out.
A very creative puzzle horror game, enjoyed it and we don't get much of these 10/10
I liked the puzzles a lot even if I had to see somebody else clear the paintings one since I was over complicating myself over it! Nice Job!
Played this on my channel! I'm not-so-good at spooky games, but had a pretty good time with this. Got a lil lost near the end. :P

A really scary game. We enjoyed it very much!
The puzzles and the atmosphere is very good.
Here is a short video we made while playing:
Keep up the good work!!It keeps crashing it doesn't even get past the opening for me??
Can you tell us your PC specifications? It's very strange.
Thanks!!
Even though its a quick game, it really creeped me out in some parts. The atmosphere and the puzzles were extremely good.
markiplier
Well thats specific
creepy, interesting story.. would love to see a more in-depth and longer game with more story and more spooks
Pretty Spoopy! :P
The puzzles in the game were interesting, but I couldn't help but feel like the story was lost somewhere. Was it intentional?
Super Spooky... The puzzles were interesting as well. I got a bit lost with the story, but i'm assuming it's intended to be illusive? 5 Stars!
Great experience!
Gave it a go...
Yes this was certainly a very spooky experience and it took me a bit of time to figure out the puzzles, I recommend you give it a go if you have not already.
