I actually loved it, the atmosphere was great, and always felt like I was about to get attacked or spooked 24/7. As well as little puzzles which was a nice touch, and you made it a little more difficult. Which I'm not complaining! It felt like there was more of just getting the pissed scared out of you. Besides that the voice acting that was in this indie game was far from bad. I can tell love has been put into this game because it's not cheesy and crap voice acting. All in all it wasn't bad! I did notice you used some stock yelling, and god that girl's scream actually made me deaf for a minute because you know, in horror games you have to put your sound to the max. Even with headphones. Good luck with progress!
Path Games, you have managed to inject terror and fear into every nook and cranny of this horphanage (that's horror orphanage not what you're thinking).
The atmosphere kept me on the edge throughout and that addition of puzzles was something I wasn't expecting but bloody loved.
Thanks for creating this I look forward to playing more of your creations.
This game is super scary and creepy! I could see the elements of Amnesia and P.T you've described in the gameplay and that made me nervous throughout the game, especially with the ghost in the hallway. I have a question though. In the end when you put the film reels on the projector, there was nothing on the screen, but I could hear the girl's voice. Is a bug or did I mess up somehow? Thank you for creating this game!
I was just watching Markiplier play your game and I had to stop and come here to say this; I don't know if it was an accident or not, but I highly suggest you change the picture of the "missing 8 year old girl" as soon as you can, because using a picture of Caylee Anthony is in awful taste and just plain awful in general. Again, I'm assuming it was simply a mistake on your part, so I'm just letting you know before someone tries to use that to hurt you and your game. Thank you for reading; I wish you all the best.
First of all thank you very much for coming to tell us. It is a serious and unfortunate mistake, when we chose the photo we did not even know who this girl was. We will try to update this unfortunate error tomorrow.
Again, thanks for coming to tell us instead of accusing us.
I actually came here for the same thing! Your game is really interesting and creepy but that definitely hurt my immersion since I recognized the photo right away. Thank you for taking responsibility and working to change it!! She was a very cute little girl. With no background, it's easy to see why you'd want to use her picture.
Really nice game! The graphics are fantastic and the atmosphere is great. The puzzles are very unique and fairly satisfying. I love the use of atmospheric scares as opposed to jumpscares. great job.
Insomnis, it comes at you very strong comparing itself to games like Amnesia the dark decent and PT, those are two HUGE titles to live up to, I don't feel like the game has a similar feeling to Amnesia or PT, but it wasn't bad because of that. Issues that I have with this game are few but in need of fixing, after reading a few other reviews of this game it's clear that most of the game audience has no idea we are supposed to be this character Dante, and has no idea we are somehow related to the girl that is missing or is sexual abused. Maybe something that would help with that is subtitles, I know there were subtitles in the room where you have to move pictures around to grab a tape, but if there's any sort of dialogue coming from the radios I completely missed it, and I could not make out what the girl was saying towards the end in my original play through, when I went back and edited the video, I could sit and listen to it (I wrote what I think it said in my video to help my viewers) but i'm thinking about the people who are just playing and not getting the chance to listen again. The last bit of talking *SPOILERS* when you put your hand in the hole in the wall I was still struggling to figure out what she was saying *SPOILERS OVER* Continuing to talk about the painting room, I don't feel like it's a bad idea, but I feel like some of the pictures could be changed, I tried to listen to what the recording said, the first word that popped out to me was blind, so in the first picture having what looks like two men without eyes I really thought that was the one and couldn't quite relate the pictures to their words, after figuring it out I could see how they could fit a bit more, but in the first play through I felt like I was just mindlessly pulling the levers for a little bit. Now enough with the negative, you have me SO SO SO SO SO intrigued, when it comes to darker stories I am immediately pulled in, so having these news paper clips of sexual abuse inside an orphanage has so many thoughts bouncing around in my head about what happened and was it someone in the orphanage, someone that adopted her, and so on. I think you've made an absolutely gorgeous game, I love the clash of colors, blue vs pink anything across the color wheel and i'm sold, I also am seriously in love with the flashlight, it's stunning and I would love something like that in real life, where did the concept for that come from because it's so cool? I thought the water on the floors was done flawlessly, and the long hallway with the crosses was nerve racking, so environmentally there's nothing I can point to and say fix that. The ending has me a bit confused but so much more intrigued, why the fuck would we do that? And is that going to play into the next section of the game? Is this little girl playing mind games with us and playing us to get to her? Are we really just seeing things like the ghost? Are we really the abuser but we still care about her and trying to get her back? There's just so many options to play with in this game and I can not wait to see what you are going to do with this. Once the story is polished, I can really see this blowing up. One thing that helps me when creating stories (I'm an author) Is knowing that I know everything that I want to happen, I know every character and where the story is and where it's going, but if you go through your work, really look and see what the audience is getting out of it. We are a blank slate soaking up all of this information for the first time with no knowledge about what's going on or where it's leading, make us understand, give us all the small details you think we might not need. But I hope I could help, and I really hope you continue to work on this game because I would love to see what happens with this game in the future! -Alexia
First of all, Thank you for playing our game. We will have in consideration your review of Insomnis the bad and the good of course. We are now working on an upgrade and introducing more lore, two endings and clues for understand the paintings puzzle. Yes, indeed they are related with Dante and we wanted to compare the Dante's travel into the Hell with our character.
About the idea of the flashlight being a ballerina it's a idea that we had because a lot of games use a common flashlight, also it represents the girl that appears at the ending of our game. Stay tuned about the next update, we are going to make the story much bigger and you will understand a lot of things.
Thank you for playing our game. Yes, we know the painting puzzle is pretty hard so we are going to add more lore and making it easy to solve. Also in the next update the game will have more details and two different endings. Stay tuned in the next days.
Thank you for playing our game, hope you like it. We are going to introduce new Upgrades in a near future so maybe the game will have scary things :). Stay tuned for the upgrade.
Thank you for playing it. We are going to make it more interesting with two different endings, more details and more lore. So stay tuned the next days we are going to launch a new update.
Hi there, thank you for contacting me about your game, I had a pretty good time with it. I'd like to start off with what I liked about the game.
The atmosphere here is fantastic, it's dark and creepy, there were a few moments where it even sent chills down my spine. Visual wise the game looks great, it makes good use of lighting and colours to spice up the environments even further, all of which contributes to the overall atmosphere of the game. I found most of the puzzles to be unique, interesting and of a decent difficulty albeit for one.
Now I'd like to touch on a few things that stuck out to me as issues. The first issue I found was with the story, it's a little hard to piece together, the newspaper articles provide some context, but didn't really contribute to an overall understanding of what was going on. The next issue I had was in regards to the puzzle involving the paintings, I've noticed other players point this out as well so I won't drag on about it, but some form of context would have made a world of difference, I happened to solve it by shear luck. Those were the only major issues I had with the game, there are a couple of minor ones such as a few grammatical errors in the newspaper articles and the lack of an auditory or visual indicator for when you solve the clock puzzle.
All in all this has the makings of a great horror game, it's atmospheric, it's pretty to look at, it's creepy, and most of the puzzles are intuitive. Just flesh out the narrative a bit more, and add some sort of context/clue to the painting puzzle.
Hope you don't mind but I made a let's play of the game for my channel.
First of all, thank you very much for all the feedback and the gameplay. It's very important to us.
The narrative is true that it is difficult to order and fully understand. We are working on an update to add more newspapers, better voices, better radios and an alternative ending. From the puzzle of the pictures you have the whole reason of the world, we have noticed that more indications are missing and can be very ambiguous. We are working too for solve this.
Thank you very much for the help, we will let you know as soon as we launch the update!
Just wanted to say I enjoyed the demo! The puzzles were intuitive, the atmosphere was on point, and I found the different colored lighting to be a nice touch. I appreciate the bits of lore given as it makes me curious about the overall plot. I believe it's important to set up a good story to help players invest emotionally in a game.
One recommendation I do have would be to provide subtitles during dialogue. It was hard for me to make out what was being said from the radio along with the film projector cutscene.
Gameplay wise, the biggest problem I had was really just the last puzzle. The art room puzzle was just too ambiguous as there was a lack of direction. It was hard to interpret the paintings correctly, and judging from your previous comment the player might've needed to know some backstory to figure it out. Not everyone is that knowledgeable on who Dante is and his life story. I think providing a cue or note would've helped with that part.
Overall, great demo with actually good gameplay! Looking forward to what this has in store for the future!
First of all, thanks for all the feedback we appreciate it very much!! We are working on an upate where we gonna improve all the audios and include subtitules, more elements for understand better the narrative. Also we gonna include an alternative ending and a VR Version.
The puzzle of the pictures, we know that it's a problem, we are working on too for include more clues for solve it.
Wow this game is AMAZING! The monster in the game (which I still don't know what the hell is that) scares the crap out of me! The puzzle are amazing too! So a little bit of critics:
There's a small bug in the phone calling puzzle there. When you go to Room 3 and go to the left side of the door, you will get stuck because of the chairs.
There's no save point in the game. I mean it's quite a short game, but it would be better to have.
I still don't understand the painting puzzle (almost the last puzzle). I need to go watch other YouTuber to know how to solve it. Btw that YouTuber also doesn't know what's he doing LOL. I wish you can explain here. It would be great.
So yeah, 8/10, less point because of the last puzzle and weird ending (sry but I just don't understand much about the story). Still would recommend to my friends. And I'm going to make a video playing it!
First of all, thank you very much for all the feedback you have given us, we appreciate it very much. Now we go in parts:
1. You're right, there was a collision there that caused the character to stay bug. It is already fixed, we will try to upload the update as soon as possible so that it does not happen anymore.
2. Before there was a save point before the long corridor of the crossings but we had to remove it because some users experienced problems. We'll have to look to fix it, you're right.
3. The puzzle of the pictures is the most complicated of the game without any doubt. There are people who say directly that it is wrong and no, it is not wrong. Only indications are missing. I explain a little, the solution of the paintings resides in the life of Dante;
Blind = It is because of who Dante was blind to Love. Death = Dante died the day his wife died. Life = His life started the first time he saw his wife. Superb = It represented the greatest creation of Dante, the divine comedy. That's why his painting.
We have to fix things in the narrative since the players do not understand Dante's relationship with the protagonist. But they are related. We will try to solve as soon as possible all these errors in order to offer a better game.
Thank you very much for everything and we hope you liked it.

One of the pictures you've used in the hall of art is from a movie Dead Silence. You may want to change it to avoid copyright issues.
